Bio-diversity park named after Vajpayee

Guwahati: The BJP led Assam government in Dispur has named a bio-diversity park at Dholai area in Cachar district of Barak valley
after former Prime Minister ‘Bharat Ratna’ Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Inaugurating the sahitya manishi bio-diversity park, State chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal recently urged the local residents to take care of it along with the forest department.
Planting some saplings at the park Sonowal expressed hope that it would inspire the children and young people to work for preservation of nature and environment. He also called on the journalists to create awareness about nature among the younger generation.
Highlighting the commitment of Dispur to build a pollution free Assam, Sonowal thanked the forest department for planting 8.5 crore trees
till now across the State out of the government target of 10 crore trees. He also appreciated the department for its proactive steps resulting in the increase forest cover by 222 sqkm in Assam with the protection of the flora and fauna.
In presence of State forest minister Parimal Suklabaidya, Assam legislative assembly’s deputy speaker Aminul Haque Laskar, Parliamentarian Dr Rajdweep Roy, legislators Mihir Kanti Som, Kishor Nath, Dilip Paul, Rajdweep Gowala, Amar Singh Jain, State police chief Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta with other dignitaries, Sonowal commented that conservation of nature should be turned into a habit of everyone.
