Guwahati: On the new year day, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal
urged the newly selected ACS, APS & allied services officers to
work as the people’s servants. The senior BJP leader also asked to
dedicate themselves in upholding ethical values with Prime Minister
Narendra Modi’s principles of sabka saath, sabka vikas, sabka viswas.
Interacting with the successful candidates of the combined
competitive examination (conducted in 2018 by Assam Public
Service Commission) in a program held in the city, Sonowal commented
that the fight carried out against corruptions by the State
government had brought significant reforms in the APSC to facilitate
entry of meritorious candidates into the government services. He
asked the newly selected officers to work dedicatedly to make Assam a
corruption-free State.
The energetic chief minister observed that the success of
these candidates who were selected in the most transparent
manner would carry the message of ethical values in every nook &
corner of the State. Their achievement would also inspire younger
generation to opt for public service, stated Sonowal adding that the
overall positive ambience would also help everyone in the society to
get benefits out of government schemes equitably.
Stating that during last four & half years, the BJP led coalition
government in Dispur carried out a relentless fight against
corruption, Sonowal in presence of CM’s media adviser Hhrishikesh
Goswami, State chief secretary Jishnu Baruah, legislator Rituparna
Baruah with other senior officers, expressed hope that the people
themselves would soon take collective responsibility to weed out
corruption from the society.
In another meeting on 1 January 2021, Sonowal interacted with a group
of city based editor-journalists and urged them to continue
constructive criticism against the government functions. Appreciating
the media persons for their commitments shown to the society, the
soft-spoken politician opined that their inputs help the government to
improve its developmental works meant for the entire populace of the
State.
